Kids journaling circle
In this relaxed, welcoming session children are invited into a creative space to express their thoughts and imaginations through writing, drawing, and playful prompts. With no pressure and plenty of encouragement, it’s a gentle introduction to journaling that supports self-expression, reflection, and a sense of personal connection to the day.

What makes the Summer Solstice such a powerful and enduring celebration? Whether you're new to seasonal traditions or deeply rooted in them, you'll come away with a deeper understanding of how humans have honoured this turning point in the seasons for thousands of years.

Step into the ancient world with a magical storytelling session for all ages, held in one of our traditional buildings. Hear folktales, myths, and legends brought to life through lively performance and imagination. With roots in oral tradition, this session offers children and adults alike the chance to gather close, listen deeply, and be transported to other times and places where animals talk, magic is real, and the midsummer sun never sets.

Drop-in corn dolly workshop*
Learn a heritage craft deeply rooted in rural life. Drop in any time during the hour to make your own traditional "countryman’s favour" — a small corn dolly symbolizing good luck, harvest, and connection to the land. This simple yet meaningful craft takes about 15 minutes and is suitable for both adults and children. Learn a bit of rural folklore, work with natural materials, and leave with a handmade keepsake that ties you to the ancient rhythms of the land and the warmth of midsummer tradition.

Ceilidh
Join us for a joyful celebration of connection through dance! Pronounced ‘kay-lee’, a ceilidh is a traditional Gaelic dance for large groups and social gatherings, and a great way to get moving. No experience or skill necessary, just a willingness to have fun!
We’ll have a live folk band and a friendly caller to guide you through the steps. Come solo, with a partner, or in a group, and get ready to laugh and jig your way around the field! A perfect burst of midsummer energy for all.

Community picnic
Gather together for a relaxed, joyful picnic under the stretch tent, where we’ll create a shared space to eat, chat, and soak up the summer solstice atmosphere with live folk music from the Hollow Way. Bring your own food or choose from delicious local vendors offering street food favourites — vegan hot dogs, classic chips, burgers, and more. Picnic blankets and tables will be available, and the bar will be open serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks including cider, mead, and beer. A perfect midsummer moment to share stories, laughter, and a meal with friends old and new.

Harp workshop*
Ever wanted to try your hand at playing the harp? This one-hour workshop gives adults the rare chance to learn from a professional harpist in a relaxed, beginner-friendly setting.
