Dungeons and Dragons: The Shadows of Elder Marsh

Single ticket £150

About this event →

Welcome to D&D as you've never seen it before…

Inspired by Britain’s mythic and folkloric past, this immersive tabletop roleplaying adventure invites you into a world where the shadows between the trees are best avoided, and monsters are strange, terrifying things to civilised and respectable folk.

Enter Elder Marsh

Set across the historic buildings of Butser Ancient Farm, including an Iron Age Roundhouse, the Roman Villa and a Saxon Hall, you’ll step into a world of ancient myths, dark folklore and unexpected dangers.

The adventure is organised by Butser's favourite storyteller, Jason Buck, and specially written and presented by professional Game Masters (GMs).

Your adventure awaits

Players will be divided into small groups of no more than six people per table, keeping the action intimate and ensuring plenty of opportunity for interaction, storytelling and decision-making.

The event runs across a full day, with the adventure divided into several chapters. Each chapter will be led by a different GM, allowing players to experience a range of storytelling styles and approaches as the day unfolds. Expect folklore, mystery, monsters, and, the occasional decision you’ll wish you hadn’t made.

Your choices will shape your journey, and there’s no telling what might be waiting beyond the next doorway.

Age suitability: 16+

Under 18s: Attendees under 18 must be accompanied by an attendee aged 18 or over

Jason Buck has been playing and running D&D for over 30 years and is an award-winning storyteller who regularly performs at Butser Ancient Farm. His hand-picked team of experienced GMs bring backgrounds in storytelling, LARP, education and writing, with many years of D&D experience, including tournament-level play.

- Kim, Sussex

“Once we'd had time to mingle and make friends, the DMs hit the ground running with a mix of styles in a truly spellbinding setting. I loved the team spirit as people grew into character with the DMs' expert encouragement and imagination.”
- Helen, Denmark
