This winter, enjoy a little seasonal magic at Butser!

General admission prices apply

Join us for two weekends this December at Butser Ancient Farm for a relaxed winter family day out. Take your time exploring the farm, discover our reconstructed ancient buildings, meet our rare-breed sheep and goats, and get creative with seasonal crafts. It’s a chance to enjoy the outdoors, spend quality time together and experience the farm during the winter season.

For those looking for a little extra adventure, children can follow our trail to help Father Christmas find his way home and enjoy a special visit with him (additional cost applies).

Add a visit to Father Christmas

£12 per child

Add an extra touch of Christmas magic to your day by following a trail of clues around the farm to help Father Christmas before meeting him in his woodland-inspired home at Butser. During your visit, children can look forward to:

  • Taking part in the festive trail to help Santa find his way home!

  • A special 10 minute meet and greet with Father Christmas, dressed in his traditional green cloak

  • Toasting a marshmallow by the fire

  • Receiving a small festive gift to take home

Please note: Father Christmas is an optional extra and is not available as a standalone booking. You must also book general admission for the same day. We recommend pre-booking this experience due to limited availability.

USEFUL INFORMATION: Please wrap up warm with sensible footwear as it can be chilly at the farm in Winter.

TIMINGS: The farm is open from 10 am to 3 pm, with last entry at 1:30 pm.

BOOKING: You can purchase general admission tickets on the day, subject to availability. However, we recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment. If you wish to meet Father Christmas, you must book a time slot. Spaces are limited, and availability on the day cannot be guaranteed.

LAST ENTRY: Last entry will be at 1:30 pm.

CARERS: If you require a carer to accompany you, they are entitled to free adult admission. Please book your other ticket(s) as normal, and then email admin@butserancientfarm.co.uk with your order number and one of the following: evidence of Middle or Higher rate DLA for care and/or mobility; PIP receipt; Access Card +1; evidence of Armed Forces Independent Payment or War Disablement Pension; D/deaf or blind registration; evidence of carer registration; a medical professional’s letter.

PASS HOLDERS: General admission is included with your Butser annual membership. The Father Christmas experience is an additional cost and must be booked separately.

GENERAL ADMISSION: Your ticket includes entry to the farm for the day, with access to the buildings and seasonal craft activities. Everyone attending must have an admission ticket, either individually or as part of a family ticket.

FATHER CHRISTMAS EXPERIENCE: Meeting Father Christmas is an optional extra at an additional cost. This experience includes access to the trail, roasting a marshmallow, and a small gift. It is not available as a standalone booking, so you must also have general admission for the same day. Accompanying adults do not need a separate Father Christmas ticket.

You only need to purchase one Father Christmas ticket per booking. Please select the option that matches the number of children meeting Father Christmas (1, 2 or 3 children).

A maximum of three children can meet Father Christmas per booking. Please ensure you book both experiences for the same day. This experience is recommended for children aged 10 and under.

We recommend allowing enough time before your booked time slot to complete the festive trail and uncover the secret message to share with Father Christmas during your visit.

FIRES: Please note there will be open fires in the houses during this event. Please supervise children carefully.

ANIMALS: Please do not feed the farm animals unless using animal food purchased specifically on site.

DOGS: Well-behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times. Dogs are not permitted in the Father Christmas experience.

REFUNDS: We cannot offer any refunds on tickets unless we at Butser Ancient Farm need to cancel the event due to unforeseen circumstances.
