Step back in time and meet a Saxon warband! Witness battles and archery displays, try on their armour, see Saxon crafts and creators, explore a living history encampment, and much more...

Explore authentic Saxon halls recreated from real Hampshire archaeology, brought to life by the Saxons of Herigeas Hundas. The weekend will be filled with living history displays from weaving and authentic cooking to wood and leather crafting.

There will also be exciting combat displays throughout the weekend, visitors can come face to face with terrifying warriors as they do battle in the shield wall and come under fire from skilled archers.

All included in regular admission to Butser Ancient Farm. Book online for up to 10% off your tickets!

Don’t forget to bring some pennies as there will be a Saxon traders tent selling some of their beautiful crafts throughout the weekend.

  • Visit the Mead Halls to see what life would have been like in an Anglo Saxon settlement and encampment.

  • Watch exciting combat displays as Anglo Saxons do battle.

  • Listen and watch fascinating talks and demonstrations on Anglo-Saxon life.

  • Get hands-on and learn an ancient skill like spinning or carving chalk as you explore our open air site.

The Anglo-Saxon cunning woman talk — 1pm

Annual Passholders get free admission to the farm any day we’re open for general admission — you only need to visit twice before you’re quid’s in! Learn more.

DOGS: Please feel free to bring your dogs with you! We just ask that they are well-behaved and kept on leads at all times.

REFUNDS: If we aren’t able to open the farm on the day of your visit, you will of course be completely refunded. Unfortunately in any other circumstances we aren’t able to offer refunds.

COVID-19: We’re still being careful, and will follow the government advice at the time. We’re a mostly-outdoors site, and encourage people to mask indoors if it makes them more comfortable. If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 or have been asked to self-isolate when you’re due to visit, please stay at home and take care of yourself.
