See what’s included

Join storyteller Bernadette Russell around the fire, where you will hear ancient folk tales of great and perilous adventures, ancestors and ghosts, and fairytales full of ice palaces, wolves, snow, long shadows and the pale moon.

In Butser’s Great Roundhouse, we'll ask the gentle spirits of those seen and unseen to keep us company round the fire as we listen to these old stories. We will take time to contemplate, to dream, and to remember. You will be invited to write your hopes for the spring by the light of the flickering flames, reminding you never to be afraid of the dark.

Bernadette has told stories at many venues including the National Theatre, Royal Albert Hall and is the host and storyteller at the Southbank Centre's monthly salon "The Skylark Cafe". She loves to tell stories outside best of all - in woods, on river banks and beaches, honouring our oldest stories and revisiting them for the 21st century.

There will be a bar selling locally produced cider, mead and a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Hot drinks and snacks will also be available to be purchased from our shop.

“Bernadette’s engaging and humorous storytelling took us on a journey. It was wonderful” - audience members at ‘Wild stories, witches and wonder’.
