Join storyteller Bernadette Russell around the fire for stories, poems and incantations about the little people. On this magical evening, we will welcome you to the Faerie Ball at the Seelie Court here in our Great roundhouse for one night only! Put on your glad rags, gather round the fire and venture into the Otherworld, joining the fae, sprites, changlings, brownies, devas and elves who live around us, in the green glades, wild waters, and hollow hills of our sacred lands. At Midsummer, they are at their most powerful, enchanting and bewitching. But beware, they are purveyors of dark magics too, so be sure to bring a small gift to keep them happy…

Bernadette Russell is an award winning author and storyteller. She adapted and directed an intergenerational version of “A Midsummer Night's Dream” for the Royal Albert Hall in 2020, with a huge cast of  faeriefolk, and has been telling stories of the strange and secret ones who we live alongside for 20 years, for venues such as Southbank Centre, the National Theatre and Birmingham Rep.

You are welcome to bring a small gift for the Fae. They are happy with natural things, so a flower, a leaf, a piece of fruit or a nut will be best of all. You are welcome to dress up fancy, whatever that means for you, because the Fae love a bit of glamour. But you are also welcome with empty hands and a full heart, in whatever you are wearing!

There will be a bar selling locally produced cider, mead and a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Hot drinks and snacks will also be available to be purchased from our shop.

“Bernadette's stories are magical, moving and hilarious all at once. She weaves a spell with words!” audience member at ‘A Pause at Winter's Gate’.
