Join us to discover the ancient sounds of Carolyn Hillyer and Nigel Shaw, two international musicians and composers, by the glowing hearth of our Iron Age roundhouse. They masterfully combine ancient instruments, primordial sound and a Bronze Age language with wild and tender performance that beautifully blends exquisite flute, shimmering songs, fierce drums and joyous dance music.

Carolyn and Nigel are renowned musicians who live and work on a thousand-year-old farm in the ancient belly of Dartmoor, a mist-veiled landscape of wild hills, peat bogs and heather moors. This year they are releasing three new albums that have been incubating for the last few years - you will hear music from all of these works during their fireside concert! The inspiration for all their work is drawn from the raw beauty, untamed spirit and primordial memory of this ancestral land.

Carolyn Hillyer and Nigel Shaw’s performances form a mystical weave of ancient instruments using wooden flutes, clay & tin whistles, overtone flutes, piano, small pipes, dulcimer, Jura guitar, cello, many types of hand drums and percussion. They look forward to enthralling you with music ranging from meditative and inspiring, to as energetic and fiery as our roundhouse hearth!

There will be a bar selling locally produced mead and a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to enjoy during the performance.

The air will be electric with the magic of ancient song-craft - join us in the roundhouse this July!
