Evening talk: Stories of our Ancestors with Dawn Nelson

Join local author and storyteller Dawn Nelson as she takes a journey through the storytelling tradition from the 15th century to the present day. Dawn will explore the narratives of our childhood and tell some of the magical tales, in order to learn more about the story collectors and the oral storytelling tradition. 

Storytelling is a key part of what goes on here at Butser. It is a way to connect with our ancestors and continue the important oral storytelling tradition, a vital way in which knowledge and tradition has been shared and communities have been built and strengthened for millennia. Find out more about the role of storytelling and enjoy excerpts of some enthralling tales!  

Dawn Nelson is a local storyteller and author with a particular interest in the early origins and art of storytelling, she also runs the monthly Butser Storytelling club.
