Support and resources for those learning from home…

We are very sad that we can’t currently welcome schools to the farm to learn about and experience the ancient past with us.

We want to help those learning about our topics from home so have compiled the below list of resources and websites which we think might help.

  • Here is our educational website all about the construction of our Roman Villa Mosaic. It’s designed specifically for Primary School pupils with key information about the art of Roman mosaic making alongside more detailed teachers notes.

  • We have several videos on our YouTube channel which may be helpful in giving overviews of some of the buildings and experiments undertaken here at Butser.

  • A brilliant set of resources have been put together by The Prehistoric Society. This includes lesson plans and key information about life in the ancient past, particularly aimed at key stages 2 and 3.

  • The BBC Bitesize website has some great learning resources about life in the ancient past. You might also spot some familiar faces and scenes from Butser in the accompanying video guides! From the 20th April the BBC will also be delivering daily lessons on a range of school subjects to help with home schooling.

If you do need to contact us or ask a question please email admin@butserancientfarm.co.uk and we will try to get back to you as soon as possible.

Sending our best wishes for your health and wellbeing and we hope to welcome you back to the farm as soon as possible.
