In these extraordinary times the health and safety of our staff, volunteers and visitors is our most important concern. In light of the most recent public health guidance in relation to COVID-19 we have taken the difficult decision to cancel this event and Butser will be closed until further notice.

Join us for a cracking Easter at Butser Ancient Farm. We’ll be open throughout the week and now also at weekends from 10 till 5 with lots to eggs-plore and discover!

Meet our newborn baby lambs, go on the hunt for clues to crack our spring-time trail and learn a new skill with a hands-on demonstration (selected dates and times)

Over the Easter weekend come and meet the Saxons from Herigeas Hundas who will be joining us from Friday 10th to Monday 13th April with demonstrations, traditional crafts, cooking and combat displays. This year they will also be joined by Iron Age Britons and Pictish Warriors!

On the 18th and 19th April the Romans from the Butser IX Legion will also be taking up residence in the Roman Villa with displays, demonstrations and an insight into Roman life.

Everyday of the holidays there will be the chance to get hands on with some DIY archaeology experiments from mini mosaic making to wattling.

The Easter holidays are also a chance to see our Wickerman being constructed and have a sneak peak at the top secret 2020 design!

*any guided activities will run in sessions between 11 and 3pm.
