What’s on this Week?

The site is open throughout the year with a variety of activities for families, including chalk crushing, wattling, archaeology, mosaics, feeding the animals and a quiz. The additional demonstrations below are provided by volunteers to enrich your particular visiting day. Please note: All activities are subject to change but visitors are welcome to check activities by calling 02392 598838 – Option 5



22nd September to 30th September 

This is our last week of 7 day opening.

During the weekdays we are welcoming schools every day this week.


On the weekend of the 22nd/23rd September we have the Saxons from Herigeas Hundas joining us to bring to life our Saxon hall and celebrate the Autumn Eqinox!

On the weekend of the 29th/30th September we’ll have the Butser Roman Legion in residence at the Villa and a group of Saxons from the Thranes of Mercia in the Saxon Hall. On the 30th, our last weekend opening date of the season we’ll be celebrating Haust, Autumn celebration with crafts, demonstrations and ancient skills.

Our Mosaic project is also well underway and we’re continuing the construction of our new Saxon Hall.
