Butser Ancient Farm is an ideal location for filming feature films, documentaries and television programmes. If you are looking for a Stone Age, Iron Age, Roman or Saxon setting, want a historical backdrop or a unique venue, call our team on 02392 598838 or by email and we will be delighted to help.
We have roundhouses of different sizes and an assortment of small structures based on archaeological evidence. There are fires in the roundhouses and scope to cook like the Celts or Romans. We can put you in touch with local experts in crafts such as ancient bronze smelting, coracle building or weaving.
We can provide your team with power, WiFi (in the visitor centre) and sell hot and cold drinks and snacks.
The farm is nestled into a wooded corner of timeless, sweeping Hampshire downland. Because we are a real working farm, we can also offer shots of prehistoric livestock, cereals and other plants.
Our team are experienced at working with film and TV crews. We have been a film location for feature-length movies, documentaries and TV series including Channel 4’s Time Team, BBC Countryfile and Escape to the Country, and Tony Robinson’s Gods and Monsters on Channel 4.

Below you can find a documentary on Must Farm with Professor Alice Roberts, with one part filmed at Butser Ancient Farm. The team were asked to build a roundhouse in order to burn it down and study the charred remains. See the roundhouse build from 40 minutes in.
Butser Ancient Farm’s glorious setting can occasionally be made available for weddings and corporate events, so for a unique Hampshire venue please contact us on 02392 598838 or by email to see what we can do.
