Festival of Archaeology – life in the past
Wednesday 24th July 11am – 3pm
As part of the Festival of Archaeology held each year by the Council for British Archaeology, we are celebrating with a range of archaeological and outdoor activities for all the family to take part in. The day will be a taster of all the wonderful things that go on at Butser and the skills of our talented volunteers and staff. Learn how our ancestors lived with a range of hands-on activities as well as getting a taste of experimental archaeology and what Butser is all about!
Last year our visitors made bread, wove textiles, dug for artefacts, wattled fences, tasted Roman cooking, watched blacksmiths at work, practiced their Stone Age painting and more…
All guided activities will run between 11am and 3pm.
Standard entrance prices apply and remember – we have tea, coffee and ice cream in the shop!
