February Half Term 2019

 18 – 22 February 10am – 4pm and Sunday 24th February 10am – 4pm

This February half term explore ancient worlds at Butser Ancient Farm. Each weekday step back in time and learn ancient skills with a hands-on demonstration, take part in a themed trail around the ancient buildings and warm yourself with a hot chocolate from our shop around a roaring fire.

Activities vary each day and we’ll be updating the below schedule with what we are planning; (please note all activities are offered by our wonderful volunteers and therefore may be subject to change, activities will run between 11 and 3pm)

Monday – Spinning wool in the Iron Age plus pottery pit firing!

Tuesday – Tablet weaving in the villa, revealing the results of our pit firing and discover more about our Saxon house. Plus watch some flintknapping demos.

Wednesday – Mesolithic skills and shelter building demos, Stories in the Saxon house and Roman cookery demonstrations.

Thursday – learn about ancient runes in the Saxon House and weaving demos in the Iron Age.

Friday – Chalk carving (am), Bronze Age bead making or bronze casting demos and tablet weaving in the Villa.
