Beltain Festival

Picture1 Beltain is the ancient Celtic celebration to mark the beginning of summer, with music, dancing and the burning of the giant Wickerman. This sell-out event is the highlight of the Butser year, attracting thousands of festival goers to welcome in the summer months.

Next years festival will take place on Saturday 4th May 2019, 4.30 – 10pm

Each year, visitors can expect a fantastic afternoon/evening of entertainment and refreshments culminating with the burning of the wickerman at dusk. Other entertainment from 2018 included Roman cooking, Ancient Wessex Network, Falconry, Warrior Training, maypole dancing, storytelling, Anglo-Saxon re-enactors, Hook Eagle Morris Men, the Butser Roman Legion, HantsAstro, various stalls and traditional skills demonstrating metalwork, leathercraft, hurdlemaking, flint knapping, willow weaving, spinning and weaving. There is also a real ale bar, Celtic mead and hot food available.

Early Bird tickets – available until the 1st April 2019

Adults: £20, Children £15, under threes: Free

Full Price tickets – from 1st April 2019

Adults: £28, Children £23, under threes: Free

Terms and conditions

ANIMALS: No animals allowed at the event, apart from assistance dogs.

ALCOHOL: No alcohol to be brought in to the event. There is a licensed bar available.

ACCESSORIES: No gazebos, tables or tents allowed. Low backed seating is acceptable. 

CAR PARKING: The car park is on top of a hill – a quarter of a mile’s stunning walk downhill to the site – so please wear suitable shoes.

DISABLED CAR PARKING: There is a disabled car park for blue badge holders only at the festival site. Please pre-book your disabled car parking space in order to secure access to this area and guarantee a parking space. 

CANCELLATION: This event will take place whatever the weather.

REFUNDS: We cannot offer any refunds on tickets.

Additional information;

Do wrap up warm as it can get chilly in the evening.  

It is also a good idea to bring a torch with you, as it will be dark when you leave.

Please bring cash for food and drink as there is no cash point on site.
